Ingredients

For this recipe, you will need:

  • 1/2 cup of butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup of Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
  • 4 tablespoons of butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream

Instructions

Cake

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan with butter. In a medium bowl, cream together the melted butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla and eggs. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, and stir until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack. Once the cake has cooled, use a spoon to poke small holes all over the top of the cake.

Topping

In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Stir in the walnuts. Drizzle the Godiva Chocolate Liqueur over the cake, and then sprinkle the topping mixture over the cake. Bake for an additional 20 minutes in the preheated oven.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream and remaining Godiva Chocolate Liqueur. Heat until hot, but do not boil. Remove from heat and pour over the cake. Allow the cake to cool before serving.
