Ingredients

For the cake, you will need:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 bars of Galaxy Milk Chocolate

For the icing, you will need:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 3 cups icing sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

To prepare the cake, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch round cake pan.

In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and cocoa powder until it is light and fluffy. Beat in the sugar until well blended. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition. Stir in the vanilla.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture alternately with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the flour mixture.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Place the Galaxy bars on top of the batter and press them in slightly.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

To make the icing, cream together the butter and cocoa powder in a medium bowl. Gradually add the icing sugar, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the milk and beat until the desired consistency is achieved.

Spread the icing over the cooled cake. Slice and serve. Enjoy!
