For the Frosting:

- 6 cups of powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
Instructions
Making the Cake:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside.
3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, mixing until just blended. Fold in rainbow jimmies.
4. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto cooling racks to cool completely.
Making the Frosting:
1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and heavy cream. Spread frosting on cooled cake.
